WannaCry ransomware aftermath

It was hard to avoid hearing about the global malware infection named WannaCry (or a variation) recently.

A few people have expressed concern that they are also vulnerable to attack from this malware.

It affected older operating systems (like Windows XP) but most of the victims were running non-updated versions of Windows 7.

If you have Windows update set to automatic you will have received a patch to stop this type of infection in March.

I recommend turning Windows update on if you haven’t already.

This malware is no longer active but there are many variations of ransomware and you should be wary of any email links or unknown websites.
