I’ve been an advocate for Windows File History app since it was first introduced because of its ability to keep an automatic update going without much user interaction needed.
I have since discovered that it is not as reliable as one would hope. It seems to stall and then never recover. I’m not sure whether it throws up error warnings which are ignored by the user or just silently stops.
I have serviced PCs recently which I set up File History on and found that some of them haven’t backed up for more than a year.
The program itself is still very good but my advice now is to be slightly more hands on with it.
Once a week, or after uploading photos or anything which reminds you, go to Control Panel, File History and then click Run now.
