There is a new batch of Cryptolocker variants loose in the world and people here in Sydney are being affected.
It usually comes in via a fake email pretending to be from somewhere like Australia Post or a courier firm etc with a link to track a delivery or something similar.
When you click the link it installs on your computer and quickly finds every document and picture and encrypts them so that you can’t open them and the only way to break the encryption is to have the key. Of course there is an offer for you to purchase the key.
You will never have to worry about this if you have a full, recent backup of all your files. This is the only way to beat it. Back up all your important data now. Ensure every new addition also gets backed up.
If it is not backed up you will lose it all.
